Virginia Beach Fishing, Aug. & Sept. Wrap Up

OFFSHORE-What a hell of a marlin fishery for the past 2 months. Just world class fishing on billfish. You could luck out on most trips and get 5 or 6 bites while not even trying to fish for them. Charters targeting them had one of the best years on the billfish in recent history. There were days where a few boats caught and released over 25! Insane!!

Tuna fishing has been pretty much non-existent in our neck of the woods the past 2 months with an occasional tuna bite here and there. Its no secret they are well North of us in search of cooler waters but we will be getting another shot at them soon as the water cools and they migrate back down.
Dolphin and wahoo fishing has been hit or miss but if you find a piece of floating debris somewhere it is "game on"on the dolphin. Both will improve as the waters begin to cool this fall.

INSHORE-Everything a fisherman could fish for, all within sight of the coast. Big game inshore species such as cobia and sharks have been outstanding the past 2 months. Bluefish and mackerel have remained a constant all summer. The inshore wrecks are holding good numbers of keeper sea bass and triggerfish. (sea bass closure for 180 days! ) King mackerel so far have been a no-show but hopefully we will see some action on them soon. False albacore are also snapping a bit off the beach offering sizzling runs and rod bending action for trollers but not very good table fare.

Its been a good couple of months from Va beach. We luckily avoided any hurricane threats this year and the fish cooperated quite nicely. The 24th of October will be our last trip from VA Beach for awhile. After then I will be bringing the boat to the boat yard and getting ready for our upcoming striper season which I start on November 1st. We will be located at Urbanna town marina and will fish the Rappahannock and bay waters until December 6th when we return to Va beach to continue fishing for striped bass until March!

Please check out our reelbuzz page to see pictures from our trips and to check out charter information for upcoming trips.
