Ive finally got a day off to get these reports caught up and tell you whats been happening on our Chesapeake Bay trips. What started out as a slow start to the season in May has now turned into a true cooler filling massacre of bottom fish. A mixed bag of spot and croaker have shown up in droves the past few weeks and it is fairly common to leave the Bay trips with well over 100 fish per person. An angler on board yesterday left with 188 fish by 1 pm. She was the "high hook" for the day but everyone had well over 100 fish. A surprise is the size of the spot for this early in the season. These are some great quality NO. 2's averaging a half pound a piece. The croaker have ranged in sizes but tend to be more of the medium grade in the 12-14 inch range.
If bottom fishing isnt your cup of tea we also have some tremendous trolling action for Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel and offers a bit of relief from the heat! These are great table fare and are a blast to catch. The constant breeze while trolling is a blessing for those scorching hot days!
Flounder fishing has been pretty productive so far this year and it appears to be shaping up to be much better than last year. The action has been good on the undersize fish and most trips are averaging a dozen or more keeper fish and some up to 8 pounds have been registered for citations the past couple of weeks. What ever your pleasure, we have it going on now! We have a few available dates between now and Mid-October to get in on the action. Give us a call to schedule your next trip. |
